Synergy Moon – Above and Beyond is a crowdsourced documentary created by you!
“Life in a Day and One Day on Earth meets Space”
Our mission is to take you on a journey breaking all physical bounds and frontiers where our challenge lies on reaching our celestial companion, the Moon. Throughout time we have looked to the skies and wondered what lies beyond? Synergy Moon – Above and Beyond will present the story of the first privately funded competition, the Google Lunar X Prize, to land a robotic spacecraft on the Moon by 2015 and follow the Synergy Moon Team on their quest to reach that goal. Team Synergy Moon was named through its Synergy between its team members, and as part of our mission goals through our education and outreach we aim to engage as many people as possible in making space accessible to all, giving you the opportunity to become part of the team.
That’s why we are inviting you to send in your video clips, poems, art, and creative expression to contribute to the documentary and join us on this amazing journey. Imagine “Life in a Day” and “One Day on Earth” with a space theme, that’s what we are aiming for!
Global Call for Entries
Thats right, we are bringing artistic expressions from the whole human family to the moon, and no one needs to be excluded. We want you to submit your entries with the question in mind “What does the Moon mean to you?” Your submissions will be used as part of the footage for the film. Not only that but we are also planning to send your entries to the Moon. As a part of our mission the Tesla Rover will deploy a specially developed “Art Capsule”, which will showcase and include art collected from around the world in a series of creative ways.
One of our formats for the documentary will be in Full Dome format to be shown at Planetaria and Full Dome Theatres worldwide. We will feature imagery from space taken by astronauts aboard the International Space Station and previous exploratory missions to be presented within the “Overview Effect”, giving us a breathtaking view of our home, Planet Earth, in a way that only those who venture above our Stratosphere can see. The curvature of the horizon and fragility of our atmosphere, changing weather patterns, urban lights from space and our space ship Earth travelling through the Universe. In a nutshell, we are all astronauts!
What does it take to jump out of a moving rocket faster than the speed of sound? Courage, confidence and the willingness to delve into the depths of the unknown to benefit society, that’s what the FreeFly Astronaut Project is about. World-renowned skydiver Olav Zipser will be attempting to break the record set by Felix be using a Interorbital Systems rocket as the launch provider. “I created the sport of FreeFlying and have gathered a great deal of important data, but more work is required. These FreeFly events will happen at increasingly higher altitudes. This scientific data will be gathered to develop a safe return method that will benefit the entire aerospace industry. I can even see this as a new extreme sport with unlimited potential”. Combining Synergy Moon’s outreach initiative ” Paper Plane Project” Olav will be launching a set of paper planes during his Space Jump, giving you the opportunity to participate also through designing a paper aeroplane and having it launched simultaneously. The Paper Plane Project conveys the simple action of throwing the plane with a message of peace to all society and our accomplishments to date in science and technology.
